Limes are more expensive because of this season’s drought. However, they are a vital and healthy element in the Nicaraguan diet. In the community of Carrizal there are lemons with a good amount of juice and they are cheap; 15 Córdobas per dozen. They are brought to town by Pedro and Luis and children who sell them house to house. On Monday they were selling them at beach restaurants, following a tradition of rural communities selling their products in the city.

Last week there was a dredger in the bay, working on the dock expansion project. The dredger was clearing the area for the cruise tenders (orange shuttle boats) to dock with passengers. The project is being implemented by the Institute of Tourism INTUR in coordination with the National Port Company (EPN) with financing from the Inter-American Development Bank.
