Home Invasion style robbery at Playa Remanso last Saturday night (27th April) at around 11pm.
A group of 4 female and one male tourists renting the house were “rushed” by two assailants’ with machetes (both were masked) who forced their way in as the guests were moving around in and out of the house.
The two went through the house room by room taking iphones, laptops and cameras.
Nobody was physically hurt.
Victims felt that it as a planned attack, the attackers new how many people were renting the house and the layout etc.
This house did have a caretaker (cuidador) but he was in the habit of going home when the guests returned to the house.
Please consider having a full time guard at the house, especially when renting out of town.
Robo estilo Invasión en una casa en Playa Remanso la noche del pasado sábado (27 de abril) alrededor de las 11 de la noche.
Un grupo turistas de 4 mujeres y un hombre que alquilaron una casa, fueron “atacados” por dos agresores con machetes (ambos estaban enmascarados) e irrumpieron en la casa donde los inquilinos que se encontraban moviéndose alrededor de dentro y fuera de la casa.
Los dos fueron habitación por habitación tomando iphones, computadoras portátiles y cámaras.
Nadie fue lastimado físicamente.
Las víctimas percibieron que el ataque fue bien planeado, los atacantes sabían cuántas personas estaban alquilando la casa y en qué cuarto estaba cada uno, etc.
Esta casa tenía un cuidador pero tenían la costumbre que cuando los turistas llegaban él se iba a su casa.
Por favor considere tener un cuidador de tiempo completo en la casa, especialmente cuando se alquila fuera de la ciudad.

I have to agree with Tony. It likely is the same guys over and over again. These two alone can have such a negative impact on the crime reputation around SJDS. It only takes a couple of bad incidents and it could wreck the tourist trade. As a local house owner, it would be good to see the local community standing up and sniffing these thugs out and then placing them on public display through the legal process.
If all it took was couple of bad incidents then it would be wrecked already. As a local house owner you must know what I am talking about.
Absentee owners need to provide security or a cuidador for the renters through the property management contract or however they manage it remotely. They need to do a walk through with the renters and talk about security.
